C2A and Frankston RSL – A Long-Standing Partnership

For over 15 years C2A has provided grounds maintenance services to Frankston RSL, helping maintain the site's outdoor areas while providing supported employment opportunities for our crew members. This partnership demonstrates how organisations can work together to achieve quality commercial outcomes while making a positive difference in the lives of people with disability.

The Requirement

Frankston RSL needed to ensure that their car park, gardens and open spaces were well maintained and present a neat and tidy environment for members and guests.  They were also keen to open up the opportunity to support inclusive employment and to contribute to the local community.

The challenges faced

Some of the key challenges we face when providing supported employment services include:

  • 1 Maintaining consistent service standards
Ensuring the grounds are maintained to the expected standard, and are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • 2 Supporting individual needs
Crew members have different abilities, learning styles and support requirements. Tasks need to be adapted to suit individuals while still meeting the client's expectations.
  • 3 Developing skills and independence
Crew members require ongoing training, guidance and encouragement to build their confidence and become more capable in their roles.
  • 4 Managing changing requirements
Responding to seasonal changes, varying grounds maintenance needs and responding to feedback or requests from the client.
  • 5 Balancing productivity and meaningful employment
Ensuring the work is completed efficiently while providing crew members with meaningful opportunities to participate, learn and contribute.

The solutions implemented

C2A's approach focuses on communication, teamwork, individualised support and maintaining a strong relationship with Frankston RSL.

  • Consistent grounds maintenance
A regular grounds maintenance service, helping maintain a welcoming environment for members, visitors and the wider community.
  • Individualised support
Our crew leaders provide practical guidance, demonstrate tasks and adjust support to suit each crew member's needs.
  • On-the-job training
Crew members develop skills in using equipment safely, completing grounds maintenance tasks and working as part of a team.
  • Quality monitoring
Crew leaders oversee work, check completed tasks and address any areas requiring further attention.
  • Communication and flexibility
Maintaining contact with the client to understand their expectations, respond to feedback and accommodate changing site requirements where possible.
