Would you like to volunteer some of your time to work with us?
If so, we’d love to talk to you. Volunteering is a rewarding experience for everyone – you, our wonderful clients, and our passionate staff.
Become an Op Shop volunteer
Our local Op Shops provide much needed products to local communities, are an important source of funding for us, and are a very rewarding place to volunteer in.
What might you be doing as an Op Shop volunteer?
You’ll be working with our local teams on a varied range of activities including:
- Assisting local people with disability to enjoy working in a retail environment.
- Keeping the shop stocked with an ever-changing selection of products.
- Renewing the displays to keep them fresh and eye-catching.
- Helping shoppers to find and choose items, and collecting payments.
- Possibly assisting with admin duties.
What do our Op Shops help us to do?
Our Op Shops provide several important functions.
- Give access to an outlet containing a wide range of inexpensive clothing and household items to local residents in need.
- Provide work experience and community engagement for people with disability.
- Provide a facility for people to recycle products instead of them ending up in landfill.
- Generate funding to help us deliver important services and facilities for people with disability including:
- Equipment and aids for personalised care and support.
- Community inclusion programs.
- Vehicles used for community engagement activities.
- Employment and skills training programs and equipment.
Which Op Shops can you volunteer at?
Of our four C2A Op Shops, the three that you can volunteer at are in Mildura, Traralgon and Wonthaggi. Our Mt Eliza Op Shop is specially set up for training and retail experience for our participants with our disability support workers.
We’d welcome your enquiry about becoming a C2A volunteer and helping to make a real difference for people with disability.
